ABDUCTION

The unlawful taking and carrying away by force, fraud, or persuasion of a child or ward for the purpose of depriving the parent or guardian of custody, is prohibited by statutes. In its more restricted sense, abduction is distinguishable from kidnapping where the victim may be of either sex and where the motive is generally ransom money. Also in abduction, as opposed to the crime of kidnapping, statutes require corroboration of the victim's testimony.
