Medieval Jewish philosopher and chronicler, born in Toledo, Spain. He was the first Jewish philosopher of the Aristotelian school. In a book entitled
The Exalted Faith, he attempted to show that Aristotelian philosophy agrees with the Jewish religion. He was thus a forerunner of Maimonides.
