ABUTILON

Flowering maple, genus of herbs and shrubs of the mallow family (Malvaceae). There are about 80 pieces, all native to warm regions of both hemispheres. The plants, which may reach a height of 30 ft. in certain South American species, have long-stalked leaves, often attractively marked with yellow. The flowers, bell or trumpet-shaped, and usually drooping, are up to 3.5 in. across. They display a wide range of colors.
