AALBORG [ôl’bôrg]

or ÅLBORG, fourth-largest city of Denmark, located on the Limford in the north of Jutland. A transportation center, the city serves as a focal center for road and rail traffic in northernmost Denmark. Its deepwater port handles the third-largest tonnage in the country. Aalborg is a mayor center of cement production. Its other industries include distilling, meat packing, shipbuilding, and the manufacture of superphophates, textiles, and tobacco products. Chartered, 1342.
